Description

This paper aims to clarify the planning gradations in the formation of the Textile Wholesale District in front of JR Gifu Station, a postwar Industrial Center. We analyze mainly the maps of land readjustment project just after WWⅡ, previous cadastre, and wholesale merchants' membership lists, focusing on the shape, especially irregularity of the shape of the passage spaces such as public ways, private ways, and aisles in buildings. It is clarified that the passage spaces were formed in stages from west to east and each irregularity of the shape of passage spaces shows the difference of the planning gradations in each condition.
