Description
We compared anti-treponemal antibody detection ratio between Mediace TPLA and ARCHITECT TPAb assays using 17, 24, and 25 primary, secondary, and latent syphilis sera, respectively. A total of 66 (100%) and 63 (96%) sera showed positive test results on Mediace TPLA and ARCHITECT TPAb, respectively. Two of the primary syphilis sera and one latent syphilis serum, which were reported positive on Mediace TPLA but not on ARCHITECT TPAb, contained fewer types of anti-treponemal antibodies than that contained by the average of 66 sera. These results suggest that Mediace TPLA can display a positive test result, even if the sera contain fewer types of anti-treponemal antibodies.
