Description

e-Learning in corporate in-house training programs has experienced significant changes in learning environment, with rapidly growing use of smartphones and tablet terminals in recent years. Moreover, with the advancing business use of personal devices in BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), there is demand for innovative changes in educational style. An understanding of the actual conditions of learners in corporate e-Learning courses will be essential to addressing these changes and building new educational styles in the future. However, although there are numerous cases of efforts in analysis of learners of e-Learning courses in institutions of higher learning and corresponding learning support in prior research, case studies addressing learning by adults are few, and this comprises a future issue for consideration. Our research group analyzed and surveyed the characteristics of learners in corporate in-house e-Learning programs, by using log data accumulated in an LMS (Learning Management System). This paper reports an indication of the learning styles specific to adult learners and the learners'characteristics based on the type of courseware provided, all of which became clear from the results of the analysis and survey. Furthermore, the paper considers the ideal approaches to courseware development and learning support tailored to the learners.
