Description
In this paper, we introduce current status and challenges for silicon-based fault-tolerant quantum computing. Fault-tolerant quantum computing is believed to be the key to solving practical problems that classical computers find difficult to solve. Its realization requires a two-pronged approach: improving the performance of individual qubits (quality) and developing structures suitable for large-scale computing (quantity). We will outline how spins in silicon are suitable for both aspects owing to high qubit performance, nanosized structure, and compatibility with existing CMOS and circuit technologies in an introductory manner for researchers in various fields.
