3ローター式発射装置により発射された卓球ボールの飛翔軌道を,高速度ビデオカメラを用いて撮影し,卓球ボール(真球)の抗力係数C_Dおよび揚力係数C_<LZ>を計測した.Nittaku社製の卓球ボールを試験球とし,卓球競技で想定されるRe数と無次元回転数(SP)の領域(2.0×10^4<Re<9.0×10^4,0<SP<1.0)で,C_DとC_<LZ>のReやSPへの依存性を調べた.計測されたRe-SP領域では「負のマグナス効果」の存在は確認できなかったが,SP=0.5付近で揚力係数C_<LZ>の谷間が存在し,Re=9.0×10^4,SP=0.5では回転する卓球ボールにも揚力がほとんど働かないことを見出した.The aerodynamic properties, such as drag and lift coefficients, of a table tennis ball are investigated by a flight experiment. Using two high speed video-cameras, we record the trajectory and rotation of a ball (Nittaku 3-Star Premium), which is launched by a newly developed three-rotor-machine. The drag (C_D) and lift (C_<LZ>) coefficients are determined by analyzing the video-images. The measurements cover the speed and rotation range of a table tennis game, i.e., 2.0×10^4<Re<9.0×10^4, 0<SP<1.0, and C_D and C_<LZ> are determined as functions of Re and SP. We have found no negative Magnus force region but there exists a valley of C_<LZ> around SP=0.5. In fact, the lift force exerted on a spinning ball almost vanishes at Re=9.0×10^4 and SP=0.5.
