Description

We have experimentally examined the applicability of a tilted-slot antenna on a conducting cylinder to a pair of polarimetric radar antennas which can operate in wavelengths more than 50 cm and in a borehole having the diameter of about 10 cm. At first, it has been shown that an azimuthal polarization component of this antenna has significant directivity in soil. In order to reduce the directivity, a dual slotted and dual feed antenna has been introduced. Then, the scattering matrix from wall of a cave has been estimated to closely be a unit matrix in polarimetric borehole radar measurement with the pair of these omni-directional tilted slow antennas. Moreover, it has been cleared that the bandwidth for a polarimetric radar of this system broaden twice.
