- Vapor Pressure-Temperature Correlation of Light Water

The correlation for the vapor pressure of light water, whose original functional form was developed by Nakashima and Yasuda, are revised in accordance with the new critical pressure and critical temperature recently recommended by the International Association for the Properties of Steam [IAPS]. In determining the new coefficients of this correlation, especially, the following conditions are taken into consideration. (i) The value of the first derivative of the vapor pressure at the critical point is defined as 0.27 MPa/K. (ii) The value of the second derivative of the vapor pressure at the critical point is assigned to 0.067 MPa/K2 such that the second derivatives can reproduce the trends of those obtained from the experimental data of isochoric specific heat capacities near the critical point. The values of the vapor pressure calculated from the revised correlation lie within the tolerances given in the new skeleton tables which were proposed at the 10th International Conference on the Properties of Steam [ICPS] in 1984 by Sato, Uematsu and Watanabe. In addition to that, values of the first and second derivatives determined by this correlation agree well with those calculated from the correlation generating the vapor pressure of the new skeleton tables propo.sed by Sato et al., respectively.
