In this study, we organized the presence or absence and contents of the descriptions that fell under the nutrition / dietary life field in Health Japan 21, in the curriculum guidelines and textbooks, aiming to study the issues of lifestyle-related disease prevention education in the dietary area of compulsory education. Regarding the survey method, we used the nine survey items I prepared based on the target items in the nutrition / dietary life field of Health Japan 21, as indexes, and extracted the related descriptions from the curriculum guidelines and textbooks, and organized the contents. The subjects were curriculum guidelines and textbooks of elementary and junior high schools. As a result of the survey, we were able to identify the following issues in the guidelines and textbooks of elementary and junior high schools, regarding the state of guidance on dietary life to prevent lifestyle-related diseases. ・Concerning the items regarding lifestyle-related diseases, some textbooks have related descriptions and others do not. ・Even among textbooks that have descriptions, the levels of emphasis of importance and concreteness of guidance vary among the textbooks.
