- A TOPOGRAPHIC BASIN MODEL FOR BUILDING A DISTRIBUTED RAINFALL-RUNOFF MODEL
To make a distributed rainfall-runoff model, it is very important to build a numeric model for topographic surface of a basin which takes account of the direction of water flow.In this paper a topographic surface is represented numerically using a data structure of a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) formed by a Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN).Landscapes are modelled as a set of contiguous non-overlapping triangular facets whose vertices are made up by points on regular grids and points on river segments.Those triangular facets are subdivided, if needed, so that each of them has only one edge through which water flows out.
