Since Aserinsky and Kleitman(1953) suggested at first that REM is closely connected with dreaming experience, many researchers have been interested in the relation between eye movements and higher nervous activities. Their previous works are enable to be devided into two views; one is that rapid eye movements during thinking are related to the visual image, the other is that they are related to the level of anxiety or mental tension. This report is devised to investigate the followings; when subjects are given two kinds of questions, that is more imaginable thinking task and less imaginable, whether is the difference of eye movements' occurrence, or not, whether is the alternation by age in that difference, or not, and how is the difference between under the eye-opened condition and under the eye-closed condition. Two kinds of four questions were given to 19 undergraduate and graduate students and 35 kidergarten children under the both conditions, then EOG and blood volume pulse were measured. The occurrence ratio of eye movements and the change ratio of blood volume pulse amplitudes were calculated respectively from the traces. They were compared between two kinds of questions, between adults and children, and between the two conditions, but regularly obvious tendency was not recognized. Under the eye-opened condition, adults were apt to make increase eye movements in the thinking period, on the other hand, children were disposed to make increase eye movements in the responding period. This fact may be interpreted by the difference of their thinking styles or of their cognition forms on the view that eye movements during thinking appear as "looking around the visual image". The fact that eye movements occur differently under the two conditions cannot be interpreted by only the view that "looking around the visual image". It may be interpreted by eye movements' decreasing for the motion inhibition with concentration of attention. Both the two kinds of thinking tasks made almost subjects to occur similarly to their mind image(content was not similar), so that the relation between eye movements during thinking and visual image will be cleared by further investigations. And it may be necessary to clear the relation between eye  movements and attention level.
