貧困世帯の子どもへの学習支援とその課題 : 支援団体へのインタビュー調査からの考察
- EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AND PROBLEMS FOR CHILDREN OF POOR HOUSEHOLDS : CONSIDERATION BASED ON THE INTERVIEWS WITH THE SUPPORT ORGANIZATION
With regard to educational support for children being raised in impoverished households, little prior research has been accumulated on how supporters have been engaged with these families and how supporters have provided support to these families in raising their children to help them become autonomous and self-reliant.In this study, we conducted an interview survey of non-profit organizations, etc., in order to ascertain the present status of educational support for children being raised in poor households. By doing so, we elucidated the support required by the said households and their children, as well as the issues and problems faced by the organizations that serve as supporters.Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four organizations, and analysis was performed of the verbatim record using the qualitative descriptive method. The results of the analysis exhibited, first, the recognition of an urgent need for providing solutions by supporters to the problems of parents hat they neither have surplus time nor money to dedicate to the care of their children. Therefore, supporters prioritize fostering the human relationship abilities of the said children through their educational support. Moreover, they provide recognition and acknowledgment to these children, aiming to calm their hearts and minds. In addition, they are proactively engaged in other kinds of support, aiming to increase and expand the dietary- and activity-related experiences of these children, ensuring that these children have several opportunities to meet and interact with persons other than their own family members.
