Research Abstract

1. Nishida, M. and H. Nishida examined pertified woods from the Upper Cretaceous of Saghalien, which were collected by the late Dr. Y. Ogura and Dr. S. Watari in 1045 and 46, and described 7 species including 4 new species (Nishida, M and H. Nishida, 1986; Nishida and M. Nishida, 1986; see Sect. 11 in this report). They also examined piceoid woods from Taneichi, Iwate Pref., Hokkaido and Saghalien and recognized 6 species including 3 new species (see separate report on the results and sect. 11 of this report) 2. Nishida, H. described a new species of Tempskya from Taneichi, Iwate Prefecture. This finding is the first record of this mysterious fern fossil in Aisia as well as in Japan. (Nishida, H., 1986) He also examined a petiole of the Gleicheniaceae, rhizomes of the Matoniaceae and Dennstaetdiaceae and fertile pinnules of the Anemiaceae and gave a lecture on them in the simposium of the Botanical Congress held at Jul., 1987 in Berlin.
