Research Abstract

The present study aimed to clarify the actual condition of falls and the changes of the motion pattern during rising form a chair and initiation of walking in pregnant women. Therefore, the situations of falls during pregnancy were researched and Body segment inertial parameters (BSPs) of the lower trunk segment were estimated and then applied to motion analysis. 70% of pregnant women have experienced falls including stumbles and the situations were associated with carrying an object or a child as with previous study. There were significant differences in BSPs between mpregnant women and nulliparous women. When the estimated BSPs were applied to motion analysis, the behavior of the center of mass in pregnant women at the initiation of walking was affected by the forward propulsion as pregnancy progressed. In this study, we have achieved basic data for extraction of the risks of falls during pregnancy and led to safety motion.
