Research Abstract
東南アジアでは、過去数十年間にわたり様々な局面において農業・農村の重要度が低下する脱農化が進行してきた。しかし同じ時期に、農地面積の拡大や農業生産の増加といった農業発展も進んでおり、今も農村には多数の人びとが住み続けている。つまり、東南アジアでは、先進国が経験した過疎や離農の問題は顕在化しておらず、熱帯に特有の不確実な自然条件のなかにありながら、ユニークな地域発展を現在まで続けている。本研究計画は、この現代東南アジアに固有の地域発展のメカニズムを明らかにしようとするものである。気候変動により不確実性の高まる現代社会に必要なパラダイム転換へ向けた具体的示唆を得ることが期待できる。
