Research Abstract
本研究は、ウィリアム・メレル・ヴォーリズ（1880-1964）の建築を対象として、ヴォーリズ建築資料のデジタルアーカイブ構築、および新たな視点と手法の導入によるヴォーリズ研究のさらなる進展を目的とする。 関西学院大学建築学部の「ヴォーリズ研究センター」を研究拠点とし、ヴォーリズ建築図面の網羅的調査とアーカイブ整備を実施するとともに、アメリカ近代建築史におけるヴォーリズ建築の史的位置づけや、ヴォーリズの思想と建築作品との関連などを明らかにする。またリビングヘリテージ、都市計画制度、市民活動等の観点からヴォーリズ建築の現代的意義の検証と再生、継承に関する検討をおこなう。
