Abstract
A three-span continuous steel-deck cable-stayed bridge was constructed by Hokkaido Development Bureau to let route 231 of national highway cross Ishikari River. This bridge has been commonly used for twenty-seven years after construction. Since this route is very important for people living in the region along the Sea of Japan in Hokkaido, maintenance has been continued and total 200,000 kg steel members have been installed to retrofit and strengthen. Here, in order to investigate the influence of installed steel members on natural vibration characteristics, forced vibration test is conducted by means of weight motion method. From this experiment, it is seen that each fundamental vibration frequency is almost 4% small due to mass increasing, and then earthquake and wind-resistant performances have not been changed.
