The objective of this paper is to analyze Rudolf Steiner’s interpretation of the theory on Nietzsche in order to elucidate Steiner’s philosophy of freedom. As we have seen, each analyst has produced a different interpretation of Nietzsche up to now. Frequently, analysts can be projecting their own thinking on Nietzsche. Steiner also projected his own idea on the theory of Nietzsche. So through the analysis of his understanding, we can read his interpretation of Nietzsche into his own thoughts. Steiner was a student of the philosophy of Nietzsche and Goethe’s natural scientific studies in his time. He was outstanding in scholarship, but around the turn of the century, he became occultist. His essays on Nietzsche were written, however, before this happened, and I think they express Steiner’s own idea, the theory of Anthroposophie. They are regarded as a touchstone of reflecting this idea. Steiner said his philosophy of freedom was directly related to the theory of Nietzsche’s Übermensch .
