Abstract
In developing a global three dimensional chemistry‐transport model (CTM) of the tropospheric sulfur cycle, the aqueous oxidation process of S02 gas, which dominates tropospheric sulfate aerosol production, is explicitly represented by using a cloud climatology dataset to estimate liquid water content. And another CTM employing a usual parametalization of the aqueous oxidation process is provided, and numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate difference between tropospheric sulfate distributions derived from the two types of CTM.
