Galloping oscillation have been studied by Parkinson, Laneville, Novak et al. In theirstudies good agreement between the quasi-static theory and the results of experiments onthe two-dimensional square prisms has been found.The changes of the galloping instability with the aspect ratios which are the valuesdividing the height by the front width of the three-dimensional prisms having severalrectagular cross sections are investigated in this paper.The main results can be summarized that the galloping becomes more instable with theincrease of the aspect ratios and that the validity of the quasi-static theory should berestricted to the cases of the prisms with large aspect ratios in the three-dimensional flow.
