Description

In case of mecillinam, its mode of action seems to be different from that of other penicillins and its synergistic antibacterial activity with other beta-Iactams has been reported by many papers. Recently the synergistic antibacterial activity between beta-Iactams and clavulanic acid as well as CP45899 (beta-Iactamase inhibitors), and fosfomycin as well as phosphonopeptide and various antibiotics have been reported. It seems that the combined use of these antibiotics as well as such compounds will have the advantage also in clinical use from the viewpoint of efficacy and safety.
