1. はじめに : 詩という言語媒体の性格をどのように規定すべきなのか。これはひろく一般的な文学の効用についての批評的課題をも含む問題であるが、本稿は難解視されているWallace Stevens(1879-1955)晩年の長篇詩"An Ordinary Eveningin New Haven"(執筆推定1949年、以下"Ordinary Evening"と略記)の解釈に向けてプラグマティズム(実用主義)思想による解明をめざすものである。……
