【目的】人口の高齢化の到来により, わが国における大動脈弁狭窄症(aortic valve stenosis; AS)の有病率は急速に増加している．近年の研究では動脈硬化症と同様に, ASの進展には炎症が関連していることが報告されている．これまでネオプテリンは, 単球/マクロファージ系の活性化に関与するマーカーであることが示されている．本研究の目的は, AS患者の大動脈弁にネオプテリンが集積し, ASの進展にネオプテリン増大が関与しているという仮説を検証するため, AS患者から外科的に採取された大動脈弁標本を用いてネオプテリンの発現を免疫組織化学的に検討することである. ……

[Objective] The prevalence of aortic valve stenosis (AS) in Japan is rapidly increasing because of an increase in the aging population. Recent studies have reported that the progression of AS is associated with inflammation, similar to that of atherosclerotic lesions. Neopterin is a known activation marker of the monocyte/macrophage system.
