Tourism in Yoron had its peak in １９７９ and after that the number of tourists decreased markedly. After the boom, Yoron islanders have ever been trying to bring tourists back again by creating various kinds of events and attractions not only in su ㎜ er but also in winte and all year round. Thus Yoron tourism has changed from a mere beach tourism and mass tourism to a tourism which atracts a wider range of tourists, or from passive tourism to proactive tourism. The paper discusses about the present situation of tourism and the various efforts toward the rivitarization of tourism in Yoron Island.
