Description

Various tropical and subtropical fruits are grown in fields or under greenhouses in Nansei Shoto area. It is graduatlly turning into commercial scale, however, the industry is facing major challenges, in particular, the typhoon in summer and the short duration of sunshine in winter, which are specific to the area. A survey on useful woody species such as fruit crops growining Yoron Island was carried out from 17-19 December 2003.
