抄録

[Abstract] This paper is on the current trends in educational and training system to improve the specialty of nursery teachers. Especially, I focused on the amendment of curriculum and the revision of registration systems to advance the specialty of nursery teachers. I also analyzed into the responsibilities and issues of higher education in order to provide the educational support to students and graduates under the legal reform. In spite of the shortage of birthrate in Japan, the nursery teacher is very popular among the young people. And the number of schools with a child-care course has been increasing. The reason of the situation seems to be caused by the registration reform and the change of the circumstance of child growing. The demand of daycare institutions for infants has been grown because of the increasing number of double-income family. And responsibilities and quality of nursery teachers have been more expected to cope with the issues on child abuse, children with growing difficulty, children with long-term medical treatment, families lacking abilities in childcare, and so on. The demand of nursery teaches is not only in nursery centers(government-supervised daycare centers “hoikuen”), but also in child welfare institutions and hospital daycare centers. The demand and high quality of nursery teachers have become a social issue. It affects higher education with a child-care course in order to nurture students with high quality, and to support present nursery teachers to improve their skills and knowledge. The responsibilities of school with the course is to educate students to keep learning through their life for self-development. And it is necessary to provide the training to graduates for upgrading their skills, and to creat the network among schools and various work places in order to support graduates in exchanging information and stimulating their consciousness as nursery teachers with high specialty.
