Description
[Synopsis] The Yaeyama Islands are known as one of the hot spots for rare native species. However, the local native species are decreasing under the influence of urbanization and invasive alien species. We carried out this research to understand the present state of the fauna located there. As a result, we recorded some invasive species, as well as many endemic species. Measures to decrease invasive alien species should be performed in cooperation with industries, the government and schools to protect the nature of the Yaeyama Islands and its national property.
