The aim of this paper is to examine, so called, a Swedish myth of Dalarna(Dalecarlia in English),"Dalarna is a heart of Sweden, a home place for Swedes irrespective of whether they really come from." The method of this examination is questionnaire, which I asked to answer in Stockholm and in Dalama. In Stockholm, a capital of Sweden, I have received 129answers which include not only native Stockholmers but also people from every possible Swedish regions (Oandskap in Swedish). In Dalarna, answers are 72, not only of native Dalecarlians, but also of those from other regions including Stockholm. The results differ in Stockholm and Dalarna. The rate of choosing Dalarna is much higher in Dalarna than that in Stockholm. But in general, most Swedes have chosen Dalarna in response to the following questions; which region you recommend foreigners as a typical Sweden, to which region you want to take a trip or spend holidays, and in which region old traditions are most well-preserved,etc. But it does not mean "the myth of Dalarna" has been confirmed. In Stockholm the priority of choosing Dalarna in each question is relatively low, which does not seem to fit a well-known saying, "Dalarna is a heart of Sweden." Having analysed the results, I found that most Swedes are very familiarwith that saying, but whether they really believe in it or not is another question. In addition, 'Stockholmer' or 'Stockholm' is an important factor which increase the rate of choosing Dalarna. Those who have connection with Stockholm show higher rate of choosing Dalarna.
