Tantalum is produced by the electrolysis of the fused salt containing tantalum oxide, potassium tantalum fluoride, and alkali halide such as KF, KCl. The equilibrium diagrams were made by thermal analysis. In the KF-K_2TaF_7 system, the double fluoride KF-K_2TaF_7 was formed and the system was divided into two eutectics, KF-KF・K_2TaF_7 and KF・K_2TaF_7-K_2TaF_7. The former eutectic point lay at 22mol% K_2TaF_7,718℃ and the latter at 71mol%, 697℃. In the KCl-K_2TaF_7 system, the double salt KCl・K_2TaF_7 was formed and the system was divided into two eutectics, KCl-KCl・K_2TaF_7 and KCl・K_2TaF_7-K_2TaF_7. The former eutectic point lay at 20mol% K_2TaF_7,696℃ and the latter at 80mol%, 697℃.
