Viscosity and density were measured at 25°, 35° and 55℃ for the sulfate solutions of the concentration of 100,130 and 150 g/l in Zn^<2+> and 0,5,10,15 and 20 g/l in Mg^<2+>, which covered the typical composition of neutral pregnant solution at the leaching stage of electrolytic zinc production. The density increased linearly as the MgSO_4 content of the solution increased. The increase in the MgSO_4 concentration gave rise to an increase in the viscosity of the solution and this effect was more pronounced for solution with higher concentrations of ZnSO_4. The viscosity of the solutions considered in this work varied with the concentration of MgSO_4 and ZnSO_4 following the expressions, η_<25℃>=5.31-4.69([Zn]+[Mg])+1.91([Zn]+[Mg])^2 η_<35℃>=3.98-3.38([Zn]+[Mg])+1.38([Zn]+[Mg])^2 η_<55℃>=2.29-1.76([Zn]+[Mg])+0.75([Zn]+[Mg])^2 where [Zn] and [Mg] are the concentration of Zn^<2+> and Mg^<2+> in mol/l respectively.
