薬剤師は、患者に医薬品や疾患に関する知識を付けてもらうために、パンフレットなどを用いた啓発活動を行っている。この方法は、患者に様々な情報を効率的に提供できるが、一方的な提供法であるが故に患者が勘違いをせず、正しい知識を得られているのか疑問が残る。そこで、Ca拮抗薬とグレープフルーツジュース(GJ)の相互作用を題材としたパンフレットを作成し、Ca拮抗薬を服用している患者に配布し、パンフレットによる教育効果を検討した。対象者は、パンフレットの配布前と後の比較では、GJ併用により引き起こされるCa拮抗薬の降圧作用の増強に関する問題、GJと同様に注意を要する柑橘類に関する問題、GJの効果持続時間に関する問題において、有意な正答率の上昇を示した。しかし、患者が誤った先入観を有している場合は、パンフレットによる教育効果が乏しい傾向にあり、パンフレット作成時は、予め患者の先入観を把握する必要がある。Pharmacists are engaging in efforts to enlighten patients about medicines and diseases using brochures. This strategy can efficiently disseminate information to patients, but the question remains as to whether or not patients understand the information. Therefore, we examined the educational effects of brochures that describe interactions between calcium channel blockers (CCB) and grapefruit juice. The distribution of brochures increased the ratio of correct answers to questions about (1) the ability of grapefruit juice to enhance the antihypertensive action of CCB, (2) which citrus fruits should be avoided and (3) how long grapefruit juice enhances CCB action. In contrast, the educational effect of brochures was minimal when patients already had preconceived notions. Therefore, the preconceptions of patients should be understood before designing brochures.
