The basic unit of society is social action, which naturally creates interaction. In that sense, it is not too much to say society has been formed by human relationships. Rules of communication and social manners are nesessary for smooth relationships. Many of rules are not defined by law, but are the natural result of local customs. They change with the time. I consider from a sociological standpoint what rules of communication and social manners are necessary to live well in Japan society today.

社会の基本単位は社会的行為であり、それは自ずと相互行為を生み出す。その意味では、社会を形成しているのは、人間関係といっても過言ではない。その人間関係をスムーズに行うために必要なのが、コミュニケーション・ルールであり、社会的マナーである。それらの多くは、法的に定めらえたものではなく、慣習として自然とできあがったものであり、時代とともに変化していくものである。現代の日本社会をうまく生きていくために、どのようなコミュニケーション・ルールや社会学的マナーが必要なのかを、社会学的立場から考察する。
