論文(Article)

This article will analyze the grammatical terms which are employed in English Grammar for Beginners written by Hidesaburo Saito in 1900. Since this grammar textbook was published more than 110 years ago，some grammatical terms are not identical with present grammatical terms. Also，in his textbook，some grammatical terms are not translated into Japanese and other terms are paraphrased or explained in Japanese. Through a close study of those grammatical terms I would like to clarify how the grammatical terms he employed and translated are still affecting Japanese English grammar textbooks and other English teaching materials today.　キーワード:斎藤秀三郎、英文法、英語教育、文法用語
