Description

Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is the triennial test which is conducted by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the fifteen-year-old children in many countries all over the world. One of the survey results showed the distinctiveness of low scores in reading literacy of Japanese children. It is true that we also have a serious problem of aliteracy among young adults. They are less conational towards reading something in print just because certain materials are neither interesting nor comprehensible for them. Behind this situation we observe, there must be a certain limitation which exists inside its normal ways of reading comprehension. It is assumed that it will reach critical stages in the near future? this discussion has its inception in the study of perspectives on the current situation. I would like to make a proposal on the necessity of the method called "inter-reading" which will bring about adequate reading comprehension and pluck at the heart strings. By citing some concrete example sentences, the differences between the speech representations produced by silent reading and the characteristic comprehensions by inter-reading are clarified and thoroughly examined. Finally, the discussion will be concluded by mentioning the relevancy of this method.
