ビリー・ワイルダー監督の『サンセット大通り』（1950年）は、ハリウッド映画製作の歴史を批判的に描いたフィルム・ノワール作品である。20 世紀前半、ハリウッドは「フォーディズム」（効率的な大量生産様式）に基づいた「スタジオ・システム」を発明し、米国における文化表象を覇権的に生産し始めた。この文化生産装置が完成するにつれて、ハリウッド映画は固定化されたジェンダー・イメージを産出し、またそれに裏打ちされた規範的異性愛の欲望を〈正しい〉ものとしてコード化し、表象するに至った。『サンセット大通り』はフィルム・ノワールという批判的形式を用いつつ、第二次大戦後のハリウッド産業の内側で、撹乱的な欲望／ジェンダー表象の生産を企てる映画人たちの姿を描き出している。本稿は、この作品をクイア批評および文化史的観点から分析し、50 年代のハリウッドにおいて〈表象不可能〉な欲望を表出しようと試みた物語として解読する。

During the first half of the 20th century, Hollywood achieved dominance over cultural production in the U.S. The rise of the studio system played a crucial role in fixing gender stereotypes in tandem with normative heterosexuality. Sunset Boulevard（1950）, one of the most famous film-noir works about Hollywood's behind-the-scenes, critically depicts the transformation of cinematic production in Hollywood, occurring from the 1920s through the post-World War II period. This article examines how the main characters of the film?similar to the co-writer / director of this film Billy Wilder?desperately desire to invent new modes of representation within and against the post-war film industry. The analyses of their desires in“ queer” light show how this“ film-noir” tries to represent the unrepresentable by（mis）appropriating the normative gender / sexual codes established in Hollywood from the 1920s.
