Many of the nursing skills, taught as units of fundamental nursing, have to be learned without any mistakes or misunderstanding. Instructors are required to use various teaching techniques, repeated learning and some tools to evaluate learned skills. To explore the tools to check and evaluate the nursing skills, we have made methodological studies. This report is one of them, and its focus was to explore a checklist for aseptic manipulation. Setting two categories--- "pincette handling" and "taking things from sterile packs", we listed up practical items to be checked for each skill. Each item was examined on the viewpoint of whether it can be regarded as an independent skilled action. Consequently, "pincette handling" proved proper, although "taking things from sterile packs" needed to reconsidered.
