Description

Generally, “design representation” is regarded as a personal creative action. Its “way” is greatly influenced by the designer’s subjectivity. However, “design representation” is premised on “designing”, which requires objectivity. Thus, securing the “appropriateness” of the design is very important. Typically, “appropriateness” is ensured by planning the design concept. This requires that the design process be based on a problem-solving model. There may be some differences of opinion as to what content should be “evidence”, how the evidence manifests itself in the design process, etc. Further clarification of the “evidence” is required for a comprehensive scientific perspective. This article discusses several possibilities to validate workable ways in order to ensure the “appropriateness” of design representation. We apply the “EBD” and utilize “expression knowledge (as expression basis)”—that is, the already-known modeling knowledge which is codified in the “Kosei(Science of Art and Design)”. The article also discusses the “EBD” as an effective perspective on practical Art Education.
