Abstract
This research aimed to get a suggestion for reforms of teacher education in Japan through examining the current situation of the educational quality assurance and the professional development for teachers in England. 1. The establishment of short-term teacher-training courses on the basis of the experience of practical training in school and the loosened qualifications of teacher employment examination. 2. Institutionalizing school experience of student volunteers and including the engagement in educational assistant work in the requisites to acquire a teacher's certificate. 3. To evaluate universities comprehensively including information of graduates after being assigned to school. 4. To enhance collegiality between teachers and the educational function of school as an organization through introducing the mentor system.
