Description

This Paper aims to clarify the meaning of place and formation process of Zenko-ji Temple from the view of city planning method. This paper indicates following hypotheses mainly. 1) Zenko-ji Temple has been planned its place and been located on the southeast edge of Hanaoka-daira Plateau. 2) Hanaoka-daira was sacred burial place, Gokuraku-Jyodo, and Zenko-ji Temple was the facilities for the gate to Gokuraku-Jyodo. 3) The present grid pattern of Motoyoshi-cyo district has been almost completed arround 1707. 4) The direction and the place of Zenko-ji Temple (Hondo building) has been planned from the key direction and the key length of old Zenko-ji Temple area (Garan area).
