Abstract

In connection with the Weber-Voetter method for expanding the eigenpolynomial of a square matrix, A. S. IIouseholder has stated the following important fact without detailed proof in his remarkable work [2] : the method leads to the minimal polynomial for the vector e_1 with respect to a given matrix. In this note we shall carry out the proof according to the idea of Householder.
