Description

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the rule changes implemented in 2014 on water polo games by comparing and analyzing data from the major national competitions in 2013 and 2014. The analysis indicated an increase in data for attack pattern during some competitions in 2014, but no notable changes in attack pattern, turnover, and personal fouls were found in the other competitions. Thus, the rule changes in themselves did not influence water polo games. However, the number of timeouts in the first half of the games increased, but immediate effects such as the scoring of goals or personal fouls did not.
