Abstract

Japanese national water polo team was the eleventh in ranking in the Olympic games in Los Angeles. This means that Japanese team was exceedingly inferior to other national teams. This study intended to find the causes that had brought this differences between Japanese team and other national teams frew the investigation of the records of the Olympic games in Los Angeles in order to improve Japanese team. The following conclusions were obtained from the investigation. 1) Japanese team should improve the skill to continue passing and the formation of the team. 2) They should strengthen the point making ability in case of ejection. 3) They should have a goal keeper larger in physique with stronger defensive power. 4) They should improve the techniques of body control of the field players. 5) They should have more improved combination play of the zone defense.
