There are various ways of learning a foreign language. The author thinks that communicating with native speakers using social a networking service (SNS) is an effective foreign language learning technique. In this study, three Japanese learners, who write articles in Japanese using an SNS, were interviewed and their SNS writing for 1-3 years way analyzod from various perspectives. the data, revealed the relationship between using SNS and foreign language learning. By using SNS and communicating with native speakers SNS users can read and write in a foreign language and experience different cultures. In addition, SNS users might be more effective learners because they write in the foreign language without fear of making errors, come into contact with native speaker texts every day, even if for a short time, and absorb foreign culture from people of the same generation. It may also be said that SNS is an effective tool which can help people learn new vocabulary, including spoken language and slang. The author would like to suggest that SNS helps people learn foreign languages.
