クレピス(Crepis capillaris L.)を実験圃場で長期間栽培しながら,その開花に至るサイクルを観察した(N)。このクレピスの種子を用いて培養瓶中での無菌培養を行なった。長期間ロゼット状のままのこともあるが,もっとも短い場合では3.5ヵ月で開花させることができた(S)。クレピスの葉からのカルスを培養し,さらに分化させて,いくつかの方法でカルスからの植物体を開花させることができた(C)。もっとも短い場合では,カルスを置床してから2.5ヵ月で開花させることができた(C)。圃場の植物(N),種子からの培養植物(S),葉のカルスから分化した植物(C)の三者の開花に至るまでの過程やサイクルを比較し,また小花などについても比較した。種子からの培養植物(S)は,全般に小型で小花数や総苞片の数が少ないが,花粉の稔性は高くむしろ正常に近く,カルスからの植物(C)は,小花の数や大きさ等は圃場のもの(N)に近いにも拘らず,花弁の形のねじれや花粉の稔性の低さなどに異常を示した。

Observation of cycles occurring during the long period of cultivation of Crepis capillaris in an enclosed experimental field tells us how it comes to bloom (N). Using the seeds of this Crepis sterile culture is conducted in the culture pot. Some remained quite a long while in a state of rosette, some came to bloom in three and a half months-that was the shortest time they needed (S). Callus was cultivated from the leaf of Crepis and differentiated and brought to bloom through several methods (C). The shortest period it needed to bloom was two and a half months (C). Comparison of how they come to bloom was made among three groups of plants: the first group, plant of enclosed field (N); second, plant cultivated from seeds (S); and third, plants differentiated from callus (C). Also comparison was made among their florets. Plants cultivated from seeds (S) were generally small and the number of florets and the number of involucral scales were few but the fertility of pollen was high-very near to ordinary natural ones. Plants differentiated from callus showed a similar number of florets to those grown in experimental field (N) but were rather unusual, even extraordinary in that they had too many twists in the petal and not enough fertility of their pollen.
