説明

Using almost all students of our college, the efficacy of hand-washing was determined by the bacterial colony formation method on an agar plate. A medicated soap which contains trichlorocarbanilide, an antibacterial agent, showed no certain disinfection effect in all the cases who washed with the soap once for 10 to 60 sec and in about half the cases who washed 3 times with the soap for 30 sec in combination with water for 30 sec. Chlorhexidine (hibitane) is one of the most useful disinfectants for hand-washing. Satisfactory disinfection effect was observed in 90% of cases by washing with hibitane at a concentration of 0.1% for 20 sec, but at 0.02 and 0.05%, generally used concentrations, that of hibitane declined to 42 and 60%, respectively. Disinfection with a wet-cotton is a convenient method but its efficacy in our experiment was far less than that of handwashing with the disinfectant solution. We recommend from our results a wet-cotton with the mixed solution of 0.1% hibitane and 80% ethanol, that showed reliable disinfection effect in almost all cases.
