We investigate the measures of complexity for pattern recognition proposed by Ikegami and Tsuda. The degree of complexity depends on the observer's knowledge and is expressed by templates and their interactions. We assume three kinds of observers who have references. The measures of complexity, i.e. the degree of interest, turn out to be maximum in the case of that the target
