To obtain the expected quality of image reproduction in imageprocessing it is usually necessary to perform a number of operationson the original image. Thus it is desirable to reduce the cost ofthese operations. This paper discusses implementation of parallelimage convolution processing based on CORBA. Employing CORBA makes itpossible to exploit a cluster of heterogeneous workstations each ofwhich has a different level of computing power. The paper alsopresents an analytical model for the number of workstationsappropriate for efficient image processing and reports someexperimental results.
