Quality Assurance and Standardization, which form the foundation of Japanese management, are forced to change now. There are many problems related to both fields, such as magnifications of quality objects, attaching importance to social quality, thoroughness of CS (Customer Satisfaction), application of ISO standards concerning the QMS Quality Manage-ment System (ISO9000s) and the EMS environmental management system (ISO14000s), and also the more recent American industrial tendency which attaches importance to TQM and so forth. In this paper, I would like to look back upon the present conditions for Quality Assurance and Standardization and discuss the meaning of recent changes in QC and standardization concepts, the theoretical framework of them and the paradigm shift of Quality concepts by "Quality Management"
