Against the backdrop of the current dwindling birth rate and aging population in Japan, future child-care support and child-rearing policies have attracted considerable attention. There have also been a growing number of government policies in regard to future child-care support and child rearing. This paper examines the special features of child-care support policies over the last decade. In particular, this paper describes these special features from the view point of the widening scope of policies and the numerical expansion of child services in the post "Angel Plan" era. Specifically from a macroscopic viewpoint, this paper is a preliminary examination into the relationship between child-rearing socialization and government policies.
