Description

Only Japanese scholars have so far made few attempts at sociological study of Corporate Culture Transfer System (CCTS). So this paper is intended as an investigation of corporate culture system into the cross-cultural society by Japanese local firms. We explain the phenomenon of CCTS based on the interview survey for the industrial estates in Malaysia and Singapore on August 1999. What I wish to show in this paper is some sociological problems to do CCTS by Japanese local managers. They are now confronted with many serious problems in their cross-cultural management, for example the communication languages with local managers and workers, the technology and skill transfer to local staffs and adaptation for cross-cultural society of themselves so on. The findings by our interview survey for managers of Japanese local firms in Malaysia and Singapore are followings. \n (1) The important sub-systems for corporate culture transfer system by Japanese local firms are production system, human resource development system, organizational management system, innovation system and independent business system. (2) The most important sub-system for reconstruction of corporate culture by Japanese local firms is human-resource development system especially for local staffs of middle class. (3) And to progress of human resource development by On-JT(On the Job Training) and Off-JT(Off the Job Training), Japanese local mangers have to brush up their management and educational skills and to develop the new business style by their own ideas. It should be concluded, from what has been said above, that CCTS for Japanese local firms is to recognize for Japanese management system itself again and to brush up a sense of cross-cultural adaptation by Japanese themselves.
