説明

So-called waju is the area surrounded by bank, which is created for residential and agricultural purposes. This waju is typical in the western part of Nobi region. Most of the studies on waju were conducted from the viewpoint of flood control, flood prevention, etc. in the fields of geography, engineering, and history. And there was no study conducted on children living in waju. This study aims at positive grasp and analysis of children's life-world which has been neglected in the past. Namely, the study; 1)surveys children's lifestyles and forms of their plays in waju village, and 2)examines how the environment specific to the village influenced their lifestyles and plays. As a case study, Kawashima Village of Hashima-gun, Gifu Prefecture, was taken up. Senior citizens 65 years old and over who had been born and brought up there were studied by questionnaire and interview. And the following results were obtained; 1)separated vertical human relations between parents and children, and between adults and children, 2)organizational socialization of children through the annual events, and 3)"fighting" (aggressive) culture among peer groups. Children's normative and group-oriented attitudes toward nature and their peers were developed through various plays. Familiarity with and the way of thinking toward "water" was nurtured in the life-world of children in the waju village through their life and plays.
